What skills and experience we're looking for
Berrycoombe School is looking to appoint a positive, friendly, efficient and highly organised School Secretary to join our welcoming and committed team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in the smooth day-to-day running of our school — supporting staff, pupils, families and visitors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the administrative operations of our school. As the first point of contact, they will provide a warm and professional welcome to all visitors, while primarily overseeing a range of tasks including processing invoices, maintaining accurate records and completing census activities. In addition, the role will support the leadership team by ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the school office.
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm (3.30pm Friday) with half an hour unpaid lunch, term-time only.
About You:
The successful candidate will:
o Be highly organised, proactive and efficient, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and attention to detail in all aspects of their work
o Be confident in the use of IT systems (MIS and Microsoft Office experience desirable)
o Have the ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively
o Be a positive and committed team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
o Share in our passion for adventurous learning and be keen to play an active role in our school community
You will ideally have experience of work within a school or a busy office environment. You should be able to work under your own initiative but also be able to work as part of a team and be able to prioritise duties. Experience with IT systems as well as word processing and typing skills are necessary for this role.
