What skills and experience we're looking for

The Bishop’s Stortford High School has an exciting opportunity for you. We are seeking to appoint a hard-working, pro-active and enthusiastic school site manager to lead our site team in the vital role of ensuring the security and general appearance of the learning environment, buildings and surrounding areas are all maintained to a high standard. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school site, including maintenance, health and safety compliance and liaising with contractors.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who can prioritise tasks and adapt accordingly

  • Strong practical DIY and problem-solving skills

  • Flexible approach to work to involve occasional evening and weekend work

  • A well-organised, proactive individual with the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • An individual who works well with staff and students alike

  • An understanding of school H&S systems and working in schools would be an advantage

  • An individual with a full driving license and their own transport to move between sites

  • A duty key holder and an ability to respond to out-of-hours call-outs, as required

The Bishop’s Stortford High School is a popular, oversubscribed 6FE school of 1285 students, providing a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 with a thriving mixed sixth form of close to 400 students, including 137 female students. This is a very exciting time to be joining our Outstanding school, as we relocated to a brand-new state-of-the-art school, in September 2024, on a large site less than a mile from our previous location.

Educating approximately 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large co-educational sixth form, of which a third are female students.
