Responsibilities

The Site Manager is responsible for leading health and safety management across the academy, ensuring the site is safe, secure, and clean for all users. Key duties involve supervising the site and cleaning team, managing the operational works schedule, and prioritising necessary maintenance. You will oversee the opening and closing of premises, manage lettings, and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including those related to moving furniture.

The role requires completing risk assessments, monitoring utilities, and managing minor repairs or external contractor intervention. Additionally, you are responsible for ensuring accurate records are kept of all work carried out, including fire and water safety checks, and implementing robust risk management programmes for Portable Appliance Testing and Legionella.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have experience in a premises site management role, preferably including line management responsibilities. Essential requirements include in-depth knowledge of building and maintenance management, highly developed planning and organisational skills, and the ability to delegate appropriately. You must be able to work well under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

The role necessitates the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and use standard ICT packages such as Microsoft Office. Understanding academy child safeguarding procedures is essential. Experience of working in a school environment and a Level 3 NEBOSH or other appropriate technical qualification are desirable.
