We are looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic person with high standards and the
ability to communicate and interact effectively with others as part of our school as a teacher of Science. You will have a clear focus and understanding of what makes high quality teaching and learning and provide excellent outcomes for students. You will be an excellent Science teacher and have an unwavering passion for your subject. JOB SPECIFICATION
General Responsibilities
The teacher of Science is responsible for:
- To teach Science to students of all abilities and at both Key Stages.
- To set classwork and homework that is in accordance with the Department’s Schemes of Work.
- To plan and prepare lessons that meet the learning needs of all students.
- To ensure the effective development of students’ citizenship, literacy, numeracy and computing skills through the subject.
- To follow the department’s procedures for assessing, recording and reporting student achievement.
- To interpret and use national, local and school-level performance data to help raise achievement.
- To implement school policies on raising of achievement and monitoring student progress.
- To report regularly to the Curriculum Leader of Science on the progress of students within their teaching groups.
- To be responsible in the first instance for the management of behavior in their teaching groups.
- To meet with parents and other agencies as necessary.
- To act as a Form Tutor.
- To take on supervisory duties in line with school policy.
The qualifications and experience required of the teacher of Science are:

Old Buckenham High School is a small/medium-sized high school set in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside. We currently have around 500 students aged between 11 and 16 years with an average of 24 students in each classroom and we are committed to ensuring that we provide all our students with an inspiring and challenging learning experience based around excellent teaching, traditional student standards and values as well as high quality pastoral care, guidance and support. Old Buckenham High School is a small/medium-sized high school set in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside. We currently have around 495 students aged between 11 and 16 years, boys and girls. In each of our years we have either three or four tutor groups with an average of 24 students in each.
Students are assigned a ‘house’ when they start; Turing, Rashford, Malala, Attenborough. Students in each house compete in various interhouse competitions, including music and sports, and students are mentored by older students in their own house or paired with a literacy assistant to support their reading or a numeracy assistant for maths.
Our leadership group consists of a headteacher, a deputy headteacher and two assistant headteachers. We also have key stage leaders for the two key stages who oversee all students, from years 7 to 11.
We have curriculum leaders and subject teachers in the following subject areas; English, Maths, Science, Design & Technology, Expressive Arts, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Physical Education and Personal Development.
