Salary: Starting salary NJC scale 3, scale point 5 £22,442 per annum.
(FTE £30,408 per annum)
Rising to a maximum of NJC scale 3, scale point 6 £22,763 per annum.
(FTE £30,843 per annum)
Working Days: 5 days per week, term-time only
Working Hours: 31.25 hours per week. 8.30am - 3.15pm (including 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a term time only science technician (Biology) to work as part of our non-teaching team, supporting the delivery of the biology / science curriculum through assisting the department with preparation of experiments and equipment. This is an important role to us, and plays a key role in providing timely and effective support to all teachers within the science department. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the methodology and safety requirements associated with working in a scientific environment. Working alongside the senior science technician and one other science technician, this is an ideal opportunity for an organised, adaptable, cooperative and proactive person who is equally happy working within a team and independently. Previous experience of working in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages. In 2026, 79% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths at GCSE and we are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress measures and attainment. At A-Level 25% of all grades were A* - A and 51% A* - B. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and four primary schools.
We are well known for high academic standards, good behaviour, and our strong community spirit including a strong house system with students leading their peers. “Pupils benefit from excellent relationships with each other and with staff. They are well cared for and have adults they trust and who they can talk to if they have problems” (Ofsted, 2025). Many students are involved in extracurricular sport, music and drama, performing at a high level including prestigious public events and performing in our own school productions.

Vyners School is a non-denominational, mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Ickenham, in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
The school is named after Sir Robert Vyner, who was a Lord Mayor of London and lived nearby. It first opened its doors as a grammar school in early 1960, and later became a comprehensive school. It gained academy status in 2011 and has around 1,200 students aged 11-18.
