What skills and experience we're looking for

The Department

The Science Department is a successful and popular faculty; the results in all key stages are some of the best in the Academy. We are a collaborative department who strive to raise the standards of teaching, learning and examination performance further. The Science Technician’s team is essential to the success of the department, and we are looking for a new but experienced science technician to join this busy team consisting of a senior technician and apprentice.

The Role

You will play an important role to the success of the department by:

* Coordinating the use of practical resources

* Liaising with teaching staff and support staff

* Preparing resources and apparatus

* Ordering materials and managing stocks

* Giving technical advice to teachers, technicians and students

* Assisting in practical classes and conducting demonstrations.


You will need; experience of working in a laboratory, science or technical environment and of handling chemicals; the ability to ensure a safe working environment and to work within strict Health and Safety guidance; excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Experience of working with children or young people would be an advantage.
