Science Technician - Chemistry job summary
We are looking for a scientifically minded person who is motivated and able to use their initiative to respond to the ever-changing demands of a dynamic Science team by providing technical support to teaching staff and students, supporting across Key Stage 3 up to A Level sciences. The job involves preparation of laboratory practicals and ensuring apparatus, equipment and chemicals provided are in a serviceable condition.
Good communication skills and the ability to be organised, methodical and resourceful are essential. Other duties include reprographics and consultations with teaching staff regarding practical requirements.
The role would be suitable for a recent graduate in a scientific discipline, providing an excellent opportunity to develop key skills and knowledge, such as an understanding of Health and Safety in a school laboratory setting. Individuals interested in a career in teaching may also find that working as a science technician affords a great chance to use your scientific knowledge whilst also allowing you to gain school-based experience
This role is advertised as a term-time only contract. As such, based on the number of weeks and hours worked and inclusive of holiday, the actual pro-rated salary will be around £17,234 per annum plus fringe allowance.
