What skills and experience we're looking for
Millthorpe School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Science Technician to provide support within the science department, who will help with the provision of a safe and well-equipped environment for practical work that will support the teaching of science to all pupils across KS3 and KS4.
The successful candidate will be working as part of a friendly team, comprised of teachers and a senior science technician. The department has 8 science laboratories as well as 2 well-resourced prep rooms, and the role will involve ensuring that classrooms are equipped and prepared for lessons, as well as maintaining appropriate levels of materials and resources, and cleaning and maintaining science apparatus and equipment where necessary. You will also provide support for experiments and practical demonstrations in lessons.
You will have good communication skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective and supportive working relationships with staff and students. Your love of science will ensure our pupils are enthused and excited about learning within the department. You will possess GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above and a science related qualification, as well as experience of working within a science based role. Experience of working in a school is desirable but not essential.
Interviews will be held during the week commencing 9 December 2024.
