Science Technician job summary

Are you passionate about science and keen to support the next generation of scientists? We are seeking a part-time Science Technician to join our friendly and dedicated team at Hampton Gardens School.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons. You’ll work closely with the Head of Science and our experienced technician team to ensure our classrooms are well-equipped, safe, and ready for learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for science experiments.
  • Supporting teachers with practical classroom resources.
  • Ensuring classrooms are clean, safe, and well-organised.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the Science Department.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised, methodical, and able to work independently.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a varied workload.
  • Good communicator, with both staff and students.
  • Enthusiastic about science and education.

Experience in a similar role or science environment is desirable, and a good understanding of Health & Safety is essential. A science qualification (GCSE or higher) is required.

Working Hours

  • 26 hours per week, term time only (190 days per year).
  • Hours of work are flexible and can be negotiated with the successful candidate, taking the school day timings into consideration.

Salary:

(Grade 4)

Full-time salary (52 weeks) From: £24,309 to £24,404

Term-time salary (26 hrs p/w) From: £14,253 to £14,308

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.
