Science Technician job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Science Technician from September 2025. This position requires the provision of practical support to the Science Department as a full member of the existing technician team. The Science Department is a large and committed team with Biology, Chemistry and Physics subject specialists. Students from Year 7 to Year 13 undertake practical work in lessons, for which our technicians provide vital organisation, creativity and support. Teachers work closely with technicians who manage the resources needed for this valuable learning, bringing the curriculum to life.

You will have good organisational and interpersonal skills; those with experience of working in a scientific environment will have an advantage, although scientific experience is not essential. Understanding of Physics or Biology would be an advantage. You will be required to act as First Aider within this area of the school.

The post is needed through the school week and we are open to candidates who wish to work from 16-30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year. Discussion as to the nature of working hours will be explored at interview.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks required for all posts.

We are proud to be part of East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST) alongside Farlingaye High School, Bungay High School, Castle East School, EAST SCITT and five primary schools (Aldeburgh, Wickham Market, Easton, Leiston and Saxmundham) with whom we work closely.
