Science Technician job summary
We have an opportunity to appoint a Technician within our Science Department. As a Science Technician you will work with Teachers as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Key duties are: • Set up resources, materials and equipment for lessons; • Support structured and practical activities for groups or on a one-to-one basis; • Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials and equipment; • Clean and undertake maintenance of equipment; • Undertake record keeping, as directed.; • Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances and respond to actual or potential hazards. The successful candidate will have: Previous experience of similar work; Thorough understanding of Health and Safety procedures especially as they relate to work in the specific environment (e.g. Laboratory); Knowledge of appropriate use of relevant equipment (including handling hazardous substances safely) and ability to communicate this knowledge to staff and students. A level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) and proficient technical, practical and computer skills would be an advantage. Part of Swale Academies Trust, The Turing School is at its heart, a community school.
