What skills and experience we're looking for

Westfield Academy wishes to appoint a part time Science Technician to join our small team of Science Technicians providing support for our science laboratories.

We have an outstanding Science department delivering a wide range of courses. We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard as part of a team and who has a commitment to the power of education to transform lives. Previous experience of working as a laboratory technician, not necessarily in a school, is an advantage. Hours each day could be arranged to fit around childcare commitments.

We are ideally looking for someone who is organised, flexible, able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

Candidates should be educated to GCSE level. Experience in a similar role would be preferable, but not essential as full training will be given. Please see application pack for full details.

Westfield Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, including the barred list, as well as other pre-appointment checks such as online searches as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2025).
