Ready to fuel discovery?

Driven by curiosity and commitment?

Have the confidence to make every practical lesson a success?

If so, Thomas Deacon Academy is looking for you!

Your role:

As a Science Technician, you'll be the driving force behind exciting and engaging practical science lessons. You'll prepare experiments, equipment and materials, maintain laboratory resources, support staff and students, and help ensure our laboratories are safe, organised and ready for discovery every day.

You'll thrive in this role if you're highly organised, enjoy solving problems, have a keen eye for detail and can manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with scientific equipment or in a laboratory setting would be advantageous, but most importantly, you'll bring energy, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for science and education.

About us:

At Thomas Deacon Academy, we know that every successful science lesson starts long before students enter the laboratory. We are looking for two enthusiastic Science Technicians to join our talented and supportive team, helping to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists. Working within our thriving Science Department, you will play a vital role behind the scenes, ensuring practical lessons are safe, engaging and fully equipped for success.

Why work for us?:

At Thomas Deacon Academy, you'll join a school with outstanding facilities, including its iconic Norman Foster-designed campus and extensive specialist learning spaces. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to improving life chances and helping young people achieve their full potential. As part of Thomas Deacon Education Trust, you'll benefit from high-quality professional development, training opportunities and the chance to collaborate with colleagues across a network of like-minded schools.

Join Thomas Deacon Education Trust and be part of a dedicated team committed to "working together to transform lives through education.” To learn more about the benefits we have on offer, check out our video here: Employee Benefits

At TDET, 95% of new employees highly rate our induction programme, and 91% of staff are proud to work here (2025 staff survey).
