Job summary

About the role: Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School are seeking to appoint an outstanding Second in Charge - English who can contribute to the leadership of the English department and deliver high quality learning opportunities for all our students in English. The English department is highly successful and has a track record of delivering excellent outcomes for our pupils. The successful candidate would lead a Key Stage as well as taken on broader responsibilities across the department which will depend on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will:

be an outstanding classroom practitioner
have an ability to teach and lead English
be committed to enabling all students to achieve their full potential
demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject
This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis starting from April or September 2022, depending on the successful candidates availability, with a TLR of £4,783.

About Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School

Working at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School: Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School is a selective boys grammar school with a coeducational sixth form. It is a seven form of entry school with over 1400 pupils. The school is significantly oversubscribed and has recently added an additional form of entry. The sixth form is also a highly successful and popular part of the school. The school has exceptional facilities and a distinctive ethos of providing outstanding academic teaching alongside a range of exceptional opportunities for all pupils.

OFSTED awarded the school an outstanding grade in every category in our most recent inspection, commenting that “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”

The School is the lead school in the Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub and is a National Support School.
