Your opportunity to deliver outstanding Maths teaching and contribute to the leadership of the Maths Faculty

We are looking for an inspirational Second in Maths with a passion for delivering excellent educational experiences for our students at Tewkesbury Academy. In this key leadership role, you will support the Head of Faculty in developing an engaging, ambitious and inclusive Maths curriculum, modelling excellent teaching and driving continued improvement across the department. You will have the opportunity to use your talents to champion the success and life chances of all children within our trust.

About you:

You will be:

  • A qualified teacher or hold an equivalent teaching qualification, with strong and secure subject knowledge in Mathematics and an understanding of current developments in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Able to deliver the Maths curriculum and consistently teach high‑quality lessons across relevant key stages, modelling excellent classroom practice for colleagues.
  • Skilled in using assessment and progress data to identify underachievement, inform planning and lead targeted interventions that raise standards across the Maths Faculty.
  • Able to meet the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked‑after children, SEND and high‑attaining students.
  • A strong communicator who can embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and carers across Tewkesbury Academy.
  • Able to recognise, value and support opportunities that extend beyond classroom delivery—enrichment, challenge, intervention and wider experiences that strengthen student learning.
  • Empowered to develop your own expert practice while supporting others through mentoring, collaborative planning and contributing to CPD and curriculum development.
  • Highly competent in all elements of the Teachers’ Standards, with substantial and sustained achievements appropriate for a teacher working at Upper Pay Scale level.
