The Coleshill School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly effective Second in Science to join our supportive and ambitious team. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational teacher to take on a key leadership role within our Science department, supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum. The successful candidate will play an important role in raising achievement, developing the quality of teaching and learning, and inspiring students to develop a strong understanding and enthusiasm for Science.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the leadership and development of the Science department, working closely with the Head of Science.
  • Planning and delivering engaging, challenging and inclusive Science lessons.
  • Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of teaching, learning and student progress within the department.
  • Using assessment information effectively to identify areas for development and support improved student outcomes.
  • Supporting and developing colleagues through collaboration, sharing good practice and contributing to departmental CPD.
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour, achievement and engagement across the department.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and the wider life of the school.

  • Has a passion for Science and a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Has experience of teaching Science effectively across the secondary age and ability range.
  • Has high expectations of all students and is committed to raising achievement.
  • Has the ability to inspire, motivate and support both students and colleagues.
  • Has strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Can use assessment and other relevant data effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching.
  • Is committed to developing their own professional practice and supporting the development of others.
  • Is enthusiastic about contributing to the wider school community and playing an active role in departmental leadership.
