Second in Science and Form Tutor job summary
We are looking for a committed, proactive and hardworking full time teacher to be second in science. We are looking for someone, with real leadership potential, to support their line manager in leading the science department and ensuring that it continues to go from strength to strength. Leadership is all about valuing people. The ability to get the best out of your students and your colleagues is central to the role. Second to Heads of department benefit from high quality line management and are encouraged to be highly autonomous in terms of supporting with curriculum development and the setting of departmental policies.
Students enjoy science and achieve consistently very good outcomes in their GCSE examinations. This post represents an excellent professional development opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher of science to develop their classroom practice by working as part of a strong and dedicated team of science teachers, as well as to develop their subject leadership skills and knowledge. Excellent subject knowledge and experience of effective curriculum design are essential requirements of the role. We are looking for someone who loves their subject and can communicate and share that passion with their students, colleagues, and the wider community.
