What skills and experience we're looking for
As a Second in Science you would be at the forefront of developing and sharing best practice in Science learning and teaching, as well as innovating to get the best out of the students and your department. Colfox’s focus is developing teaching and learning strategies that make a real difference to students’ engagement and progress. We believe that action based research is the key to improving teaching and the learning experience of our students and as the Second in Science you would lead one of these action research groups to help improve the students experience and outcomes in Science.

We have a mentoring system to support leadership skills for those who have not yet had opportunities for this. If you are a colleague who is less experienced and do not feel ready to take on a Second in Science role at this current time, then we would still like to hear from you. It could be that with further support and experience, you could make the transition at a later date. Enthusiasm for Science education and outstanding classroom practice is what we are looking for.

Second in Science – Required from February/Easter 2026
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-qualified, and successful classroom practitioner to teach Science at KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will be required to deliver their specialism up to A Level. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for their subject, who is reflective and able to inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
The ideal candidate will uphold high standards in teaching and professional development, with strong expectations for student learning.
