SEMH Learning Support Assistants
Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
Location: The Harbour, based at Spring Meadow Primary School
Hours: 8.50am to 3.20pm, Term Time Only (part-time may be considered)
The Harbour is an SEMH provision supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our aim is to create a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment where every young person feels safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
Our provision provides a highly supportive setting with a strong pastoral approach and a dedicated team committed to improving outcomes for children who may have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream education.
The Harbour, based on the Spring Meadow Primary School site, is part of LIFE Education Trust, a family of schools who work together and have the same mission, to build great learning communities founded on our values of Courageous Optimism, Boundless Creativity and Heartfelt Compassion.
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistants to join our team. The successful candidates will support children with SEMH needs, helping them to access learning and thrive in our nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist in delivering personalised learning plans
- Help create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies
- Promote pupils’ emotional wellbeing and inclusion across the school day
- Deliver out-reach supported by colleagues
Essential Experience
Supporting children with SEMH
Working with pupils with additional needs
A strong understanding of trauma informed relational approaches
Desirable
Experience working within an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision
Knowledge or experience of SEND paperwork and documentation
