SEMH Unit Teacher job summary
SEMH teacher (1:1/small groups) - Maidenhall Primary School
Are you passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a class teacher (for small groups) at The Bridge. The Bridge, based at Maidenhall Primary School forms part of Luton’s Primary SEMH Service.
The overarching intention of the Primary SEMH Service is to provide outreach support and early intervention to schools through guiding, advising and modelling approaches that manage the needs of children with SEMH difficulties within their existing school. The fostering of Therapeutic Thinking as an approach to creating a culture shift in managing and meeting the needs of children is central to the service.
Where outreach support at tier 1 is not able to meet needs, pupils may be offered tier 2 short-term placements within The Bridge.
We are looking to recruit a teacher to plan and deliver bespoke education packages for individual pupils and small groups, focused on meeting SEMH needs, maintaining connection with the pupil’s home school and facilitating re-integration back into their mainstream setting or an alternative specialist setting where appropriate.
If trauma-informed, relational practice is your strength this could be the role for you.
This is a real opportunity to make a difference in our children’s lives! Our reward is their excited response to everything from trips and visits to spending a night camping on the school field! “Pupils rise to the challenge of teachers’ high expectations. They do this with pride and gratitude. From the moment pupils start school, they are excited to learn new things.” Ofsted 2021.
