SEN administrator job summary
Due to the growth of the school, River Academy is looking to appoint an SEN administrator. Working closely with the SENCO and wider inclusion team, you will play a vital role in ensuring students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the timely, personalised support they need to thrive. Your role will be central to the smooth running of our SEND provision — helping us maintain accurate records, coordinating annual reviews, liaising with families and professionals, and ensuring compliance with statutory processes.
In the early years, we are looking for staff who are willing to be flexible to support the needs of students, and other stakeholders, and to meet the operational needs of the school and by contributing to the wider administration team.. This will provide excellent opportunities for staff to develop new skills and gain experience in a variety of areas .
Key Responsibilities:-
Provide high-quality administrative support to the SENCO and SEND team

Maintain accurate and confidential records, including EHCPs, provision maps and support plans

Organise and coordinate annual reviews, multi-agency meetings and parent communications

Liaise with local authorities and external agencies in relation to SEND provision

Monitor deadlines and support with data returns and reports

Has strong administrative and organisational skills

Can communicate effectively and sensitively with students, staff, and families

Is confident using IT systems (e.g. SIMS, Microsoft Office, CPOMS)

Works well under pressure and can prioritise competing demands

Has a genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for young people
Experience in a school or SEND setting is desirable, but we welcome applications from those with transferable skills and a passion for supporting students with additional needs.
About the School:
River Academy is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built secondary school which serves the need for additional school places in the Reading area. Based in Richfield Avenue, the buildings contain specialist teaching facilities in all areas of the curriculum including a wonderful hall, drama studio and sports studio. Ultimately, the student numbers will rise to 1,200 11-18 students and an additional resource base of 35 students.
River Academy has high expectations for all students and a firm focus on academic excellence and participation ingrained in our every action. River Academy also delivers excellent extra-curricular activities to all of our students through our after-school ‘Electives’ programme.
