What skills and experience we're looking for
An Administrator is essential for any school to run smoothly – you can use your skills to play a vital part in ensuring our pupils get the support they need.
Our Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Administrator to work in our SEN Department. We need a skilled, organised administrator who has strong planning and time management, and the confidence to work under their own initiative.
We are supported by the North Yorkshire Council to ensure that all pupils, whatever their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. The Local Authority publishes its Local Offer which provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place.
You will work closely with our SENCO and North Yorkshire Council to ensure our Inclusion offering runs smoothly and our pupils are getting the support they need. You will also be a friendly, supportive face for our SEN parents and carers. You can read more about SEND and Inclusion at Whitby School on our website.
Key Duties
- Update pupil databases
- Act as an initial point of communication for parents
- Support the SENCO in overseeing Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan) reviews
- Arrange meetings and take minutes
- Source and distribute documents such as SEN learning plans, letters, and exam paperwork
The successful postholder will use the Council's secure messaging system, 'Zivver', and will use our pupil databases, including Classcharts and Bromcom. Training will be given on using this software.
We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for supporting students in their education with individual needs and who wish to work in a setting which offers rewards and challenges, where no two days are the same.
What you will need to succeed:
- Literacy & numeracy qualification e.g. Level 2 qualification or equivalent (GCSE Grade C/ 4 or above)
- Knowledge of administration and office systems
- Clerical or administrative experience
- Experience of working with Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail, neatness and accuracy
- Organisational skills
- Ability to work successfully in a team
- Confidentiality
What the school offers its staff
- A supportive, collaborative team who openly share ideas and best practice
- A school community that prides itself on engagement, generosity, dignity and inspiration
