SEN Class Teacher- Maternity Cover job summary
Avalon School is a Specialist School for students aged 11-19 situated in the town of Street. Our school vision is ‘Learning for Life’ – together with our parents and the learners themselves - we aim to teach skills for the whole of life.
The school is looking for a dynamic, resilient, creative and motivated full -time teacher with a passion for raising aspirations and focused on student outcomes to cover maternity leave from March 2024 (end date is to be confirmed). PMLD and SLD specialist/experience would be an advantage.
As a school we are focused on the Preparation for Adulthood framework, and we develop pathways for students to work towards their destination at Post 16 or Post 19. We actively encourage our students to aim for a place at college or in paid employment wherever possible.
Avalon School and Polden Bower School Federation is a partnership of three schools which include, 2 special schools; Polden Bower School in Bridgwater, Avalon School in Street and The Bridge School which is the PRU (Pupil referral Unit) serving Sedgemoor area.
We are committed to developing the skills of all staff and offer a rich CPD programme. Successful candidates will join a friendly and supportive team of staff who are committed to achieving high standards for all pupils.
