SEN Classroom (Focus: PE & Sprots) Teacher job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated, and innovative SEN PE & Sports Teacher to join our team at West Hill School. We are looking for exceptional primary SEN teachers who can help our children to ACHIEVE as much as they possibly can and FLOURISH in adult life. If you have prior experience this does not need to be from a special school, and we encourage and support teachers looking to transfer from mainstream if they are keen to grow and develop.
About the Role:
Our primary children work at least 3-4 years away from age-related expectations and all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan covering a range of complex learning difficulties, including speech and language difficulties, autism and/or medical needs. Our models of learning mean that our children are based in mixed aged groups of 10-12 children. All teachers coordinate a subject, and this role would require teaching across a range of classes and groups in primary school. Working across the school in this way will mean some of the more typical wider teacher activities and expectations may be realigned towards delivery of after school sport club sessions. The majority of your teaching commitment will be related to PE but there will be an expectation to support the wider primary curriculum delivery as required.
We can offer you:
- Keen, eager children who are learning how to learn and ultimately love learning
- Friendly and supportive staff, parents, and local board members.
- Varied curriculum and development opportunities.
- An amazing environment in which children really thrive.
- A positive focus towards supporting wellbeing for all.
Teachers at West Hill need to be team players and who embrace change as an opportunity. We are a “can do” school and we want innovation and enthusiasm to help us continue to develop our provision with us and drive forward our high standards. Every teacher should be ready to embrace the challenge of helping children to take their next steps using creative and adaptive approaches. You will be a confident and flexible individual who is ready to become part of our community.

Early applications are encouraged. We reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date of this advertisement.
As well as verification of identity, we ask all successful candidates to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, we may also conduct an online search about any shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence to identify any matters that might relate directly to our legal duty to meet safeguarding duties, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
SAFEGUARDING AND FURTHER INFORMATION
The successful candidate will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
