SEN Learning Support Assistant job summary
Salary: Thurrock Band A Point 1- 6
(£17,089.10 - £18,291.00 actual salary per annum)
30 hours and 50 minutes per week 8:40am – 3:20pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break 37 weeks of the year – term time only
Start Date: 29th September 2025
Fixed term contract until 31st August 2026
You will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey. You will need to have an understanding of the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently. You will be resilient and have excellent de-escalation skills. The ideal candidate will be able to nurture supportive relationships and be able to demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach to support teaching.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: -
The ability to communicate with other members of staff effectively
The ability to build a strong professional relationship with the children and their families
A willingness to take part in class planning and adapt it to the needs of the child where applicable
Good organisational skills
Good behaviour management skills
Good basic English and Mathematics (GCSE 4-9 or equivalent preferable)
The ability to communicate with parents and to attend professional meetings when required
Good record keeping skills (Progress and medical where required)
A willingness to support pupils with personal care
A passion for the impact teaching and learning can have on improving life
A commitment to supporting the delivering of education of the highest standard
