What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic SEN Teacher with drive and energy to join our happy, lively, forward looking and successful school. The post is temporary to cover adoption leave, starting in September 2023.

The successful candidate will have experience in, and a passion for, working with children with Special Educational Needs. They will work with our Orchard Group, a small group of mixed age children with SEN, supported by a dedicated team of support staff. They will be based in the Pears group, for up to 10 children with a range of needs, from Year 3 to Year 6 - so a good knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and teaching strategies would be desirable. A working knowledge of the pre key stage assessment framework and the engagement model would also be desirable. They will have the ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual children in the group, within an inspiring and inclusive learning environment. As this role requires experience of teaching children with special needs, it is not suited to an ECT position.

What the school offers its staff

In return, we can offer you high quality professional development and the opportunity to be part of a team of teachers who regularly share best practice and learn from each other.

Commitment to safeguarding

DDAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided. DDAT welcomes a diverse population of both children and staff and is committed to promoting and developing equality of opportunity in all its functions.
