Make a Lasting Impact – SEN Teaching Assistant Needed at Hatfield Primary Academy. Term Time Only.
This is a Fixed-Term position until August 2026
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported? Hatfield Primary Academy is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
- Work closely with individual pupils or small groups, following personalised learning plans.
- Support the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver targeted interventions.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and well-being.
- Assist with classroom organisation, displays, and basic administrative tasks.
- Use ICT and other resources to support differentiated learning and promote independence.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a good standard of general education (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
- Has experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school setting.
- Understands the needs of pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
- Is patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education.
- Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Is confident in managing behaviour positively and constructively.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Is willing to undertake relevant training, including First Aid and SEN-specific CPD.
