What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a committed individual with a strong background in supporting children with a range of additional needs, or a willingness to develop within our Special Educational Needs provision. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with pupils with diverse educational needs, as outlined in their Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Key Responsibilities:

    Support for Pupils:

    • Assessment and Support: Jointly assess the needs of pupils and utilise your knowledge and skills to enhance their learning experiences.
    • Behaviour and Educational Plans: Assist in the development and implementation of individual behaviour and educational plans.
    • Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor and contribute to the assessment and recording of pupils’ development, sharing insights with teachers
    • Encouragement and Independence: Encourage pupils to engage cooperatively with their peers, promoting independence and self-reliance through positive reinforcement.

    Focus on Interventions:

    • Working together: Work alongside our SENDCo and SEN hub staff to ensure children receive well-structured and targeted support.
    • Structured Interventions: Deliver high-quality one-to-one and small group support through structured interventions, tailored to meet the specific needs of pupils.

    Support for the Curriculum:

    • Delivery of Learning Activities: Deliver tailored learning interventions, adjusting them according to pupil responses and needs.
    • Resource Preparation: Select and prepare appropriate resources to support learning, considering pupils’ interests and backgrounds.

Parson Cross CE Primary is a single form entry Church of England primary school in the north of Sheffield. There are currently 208 children in our school and we have seven classes from Reception to Year 6.

At Parson Cross, children are at the heart of all we do, and we understand that children learn best when they are happy and secure.
