About this Role

We are looking to appoint a full time (32.5 hours/week) out of class SENCo to join our brilliant school. We welcome applications from experienced SENCos or teachers who are keen to learn.

We had a ‘good’ Ofsted in May 2022 and our Phonics, MTC and KS2 attainment and progress results are testament to our dedication and love for learning. We are kind, supportive and treat everyone in our school community as an individual. We nurture our children and our families ensuring everyone can achieve their very best.

The school

Beechfield is a ‘good’ school based in north Watford one mile from the town centre and half a mile from Watford Junction station. The M1 and M25 are also nearby.

We are very proud of our multi-cultural and inclusive school. 57% of our pupils have English as an additional language and 21% are in receipt of Pupil premium. 44 languages are spoken across the school. We have a diverse staff who are representative of our school community. Our children behave well and love learning.

Every day every one of our staff strive to make a positive difference to the children and families in our school community. They do this through high expectations and a passion to make a difference.

Children make amazing progress at Beechfield A nurturing ethos runs throughout our school curriculum and teachers work hard to ensure children are given holistic support to thrive and develop academically as well as socially. We teach our children to be responsible, resilient, tolerant and compassionate as well as focusing on the basics, because if children can read, write, communicate and calculate their choices are opened up.

Ofsted May 2022 ‘Feedback from parents is overwhelmingly positive. Parents appreciate the caring ethos and adults’ support of their children’s social and emotional development, and their academic achievement.’

Beechfield is part of the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust along with Cherry Tree, Laurance Haines and Willow Tree School. The vision of the Trust is to ‘inspire and nurture our children and their community to be the very best they can be.’ The schools keep their own identities but there are many opportunities for collaboration and support between the staff in the three schools.

A visit to the school is highly recommended.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form prior to interview.

When recruiting and selecting staff, the Trust is required to comply with all relevant employment legislation to ensure we are recruiting within the law as well as complying with the Trust’s Equality Policy. The Selection Criteria document is critical in the process and sets out the requirements which the person appointed should have in order to perform the duties of the post satisfactorily and against which applicants will be assessed. Shortlisting will be completed by assessing against the advertised person specification. Our interviews will always include relevant questions relating to child protection and/or safeguarding, and will usually involve a child centred task.
