Gloucester Academy have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic SENCo to join our existing inclusion team on a full-time basis.

We are looking for someone who shares our values of ambition, excellence and pride, with previous experience of working with students with a range of special educational needs, a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, and Qualified Teacher Status. The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher with the ability to lead, inspire and support both students and staff, alongside a commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development.

As SENCo you will support the strategic oversight of our inclusive provision, leading on Key Stage 3 or 4 intervention and ensuring all students can overcome barriers to learning and achieve success. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the identification, monitoring and review of SEND provision across the school
  • Working closely with staff to develop effective teaching strategies and support plans
  • Liaising with parents, external agencies and the local authority to coordinate support
  • Leading EHCP reviews and contributing to statutory processes
  • Line managing teaching assistants and supporting staff development
  • Championing inclusion and promoting high expectations for all learners
  • Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
