Every role at Kingsway Community Primary School supports children to thrive. This one transforms their school experience.

We are a school that champions every child. We celebrate difference, work closely with families, and believe that belonging is the foundation of learning.

We are looking for a SENCO who believes that inclusion isn’t a checklist — it’s a culture. Someone who sees potential where others see barriers, who listens deeply, and who understands that the right support at the right time can change the entire trajectory of a child’s life.

You’ll feel at home here if you’re a SENCO who:

  • Notices the small things that make a big difference
  • Builds trust with families through honesty, warmth and clarity
  • Believes high expectations and high support go hand in hand
  • Knows that SEND is everyone’s responsibility — and helps staff feel confident and capable
  • Thrives on collaboration and isn’t afraid to challenge when it’s right for a child
  • Brings optimism, resilience and a sense of purpose to your work

You’ll play a key role in building our new Inclusion Team from the ground up, working closely with our newly appointed Deputy Headteacher, the Inclusion Lead, to shape the future of SEND provision.

As the lead for SEND across school, you’ll line manage our two Inclusion Assistants and ensure every child with additional needs receives an ambitious, personalised education. You will also take the lead on coordinating support for pupils with medical needs, ensuring that care plans are robust, understood, and implemented with dignity, clarity and compassion. In addition, you will fulfil the statutory role of Designated Teacher for Looked After and Previously Looked After Children, championing their progress, wellbeing and sense of belonging across our school.

What our pupils say:

“If someone is having a hard day, we would like our SENCO to help with their difficulties and calm them down.” — Year 3

“We would like our SENCO to have a calm voice, be helpful and kind and respect everyone's opinions and needs.”— Year 5

If you want to make a difference that lasts long after children leave primary school, we would love to meet you.
