Part Time (job share) – 0.6 FTE
Required for September 2026
Are you an experienced SENCo looking for a thoughtfully designed, part‑time leadership role where inclusion is taken seriously and collaboration is built in from day one?
The Role
We are appointing a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our Academy on a 0.6 FTE job‑share basis, working three full days per week (flexible allocation of days). This is a new job share, designed intentionally to provide clarity, continuity and impact.
You will work alongside a fellow SENCo with one shared working day each week to enable collaboration and a weekly handover. The remaining days will be phase‑specific, creating clear ownership while maintaining shared accountability. This postholder will lead SEND provision for KS4 and KS5, including:
· Access arrangements
· KS4 and KS5 interventions
· Support effective transition to post-16 education
· Monitoring progress and outcomes for older students
· Liaison with families and external agencies
Together, the job share will have collective responsibility for embedding a robust assess–plan–do–review cycle for all students on the SEN register, with a particular focus on improving the quality of target‑setting, impact tracking and outcomes for K‑coded students, and increasing engagement with families and carers.
An appropriate teaching commitment forms part of the role.
About you
You are a qualified teacher with QTS and the NPQ for SENCos / National Award for SEN Co‑ordination (or are close to completion). You have a strong grasp of SEND systems and understand the importance of both compliance and quality. You:
· Have experience working with students with SEND, ideally across KS4/5
· Are confident leading assess–plan–do–review processes
· Value precision in target‑setting and review
· Communicate clearly with families, staff and external professionals
· Use data to inform decisions and evaluate impact
· Organise statutory paperwork accurately and on time
· Are comfortable working collaboratively within a job share model
You are committed to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners.
About the team
You will join an experienced, highly committed SEND team who work closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders. The team includes knowledgeable staff with a strong sense of purpose, and we are currently expanding capacity further to strengthen provision and intervention. Collaboration, shared problem‑solving and clarity of roles are central to how the team operates.
