Why choose us?

Beverley Minster aims to create a safe, supportive environment where everyone is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We believe that learning should be exciting. We also recognise that learning may be hard work that needs persistence and determination but children should be provided with the tools they need to progress regardless of starting point or background.

Our school is a welcoming community where our distinctive Christian ethos promotes a safe, happy, healthy and nurturing environment. Together, we empower children with the confidence, independence and resilience to become life-long learners and to play a positive role in their community.

Within The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and also further opportunities to develop and progress. As a trust, we are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives. For too long in many schools, staff have been asked to choose between being seen as good at their job and being a good mum, dad, partner, son, daughter or friend. We are doing everything we can to support our staff to balance the demands of their jobs and those at home.

To support this, we:

  • Trust our staff to plan, prepare and assess at the best time for them, allowing them to go off-site in their PPA
  • Have centralised our Behaviour Policy so teachers are freed up from supervising detentions
  • Demand ethical leadership built on professional trust
  • Reject fads and ensure our CPD is evidence-informed and predominantly subject specific
  • Have reduced data collections to twice yearly
  • Do not expect staff to respond to emails outside normal working hours
  • Do not deploy staff at other Trust schools unless it is at their request

We have removed the following:

  • Performance management objectives and performance-related pay
  • Lesson observations and high stakes, toxic accountability
  • Onerous marking policies
  • Requirements for daily or weekly lesson plans

Above all, we recognise that seeking to remove the number of tasks staff undertake will have little effect on improving work/home balance if this happens within a toxic culture. To support this, we offer training for our leaders to ensure they are able to translate our values into behaviours which are built on the principles of dignity, respect, professionalism and integrity.

We offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Ethical leadership, professional trust and autonomy and a caring ethos in which everyone is valued and respected.
  • A great programme of CPDand opportunities to collaborate with other teaching professionals across TEAL.
  • Family friendly policies, including sector leading Maternity, Adoption and Neonatal care pay offers.

The Education Alliance (TEAL) is a family of 12 schools and a SCITT in Yorkshire with a shared purpose:

We are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives.

Our work is grounded in a shared set of values that underpin how we behave, how we lead and how we connect across our schools.

We serve with integrity:

  • Focussing on young people to inform our decisions

  • Prioritising collaboration to do our best work

  • Committing to excellence in all that we do

Inclusion runs through the heart of everything we – the employees of The Education Alliance – do. It shapes our practices in and out of the classroom, informs our curriculum, guides our interactions and underpins our relationships. By placing inclusion at the centre of our vision, we aim to ensure that every child feels seen, heard, supported and respected. Inclusion is more than a statement of intent; it is an ongoing commitment to equity and justice.

This commitment to inclusion extends to our staff culture. TEAL is a friendly and welcoming place to work. Knowing that we all benefit when everyone feels valued and that they belong, and where our work is rewarding and manageable, leaders do all they can to reduce levels of stress and anxiety in the organisation.
