What skills and experience we're looking for

About us and the role

Are you a highly organised, compassionate, and proactive SEND Administrator? If so, we would love for you to come and join our team where you will play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to work closely with our SENDCo, staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive.

As our SEND Administrator, you will be central to the smooth running of SEND provision across the school. You will provide high-quality administrative support to the SENDCo, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, assist with statutory processes, and help ensure we meet all legal requirements under SEND legislation.

This role is ideal for someone with excellent organisational skills, strong communication abilities, and a genuine desire to support young people with additional needs.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

Avanti Grange is Bishop’s Stortford’s newest secondary school, already recognised as Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (2025). Our state-of-the-art campus serves families across Bishop’s Stortford and neighbouring villages, and is home to a vibrant, ambitious and supportive community. The school is heavily oversubscribed, reflecting its strong reputation locally and the demand to be part of our journey.

We are a co-educational community school, part of the Avanti Schools Trust, with a clear vision to inspire spiritually compassionate changemakers. Our staff are motivated by a shared purpose: to deliver exceptional teaching, foster character formation, and nurture wellbeing. As one colleague put it: “Working at Avanti Grange feels like being part of a family with a shared, values-driven mission.”

We are equally committed to the growth of our staff as to the success of our students. In 2024, we were awarded the Teacher Development Trust Gold Award for the quality and culture of our professional development – recognition held by only a small number of schools nationally. Through education-leading CPD and coaching, colleagues at Avanti Grange thrive in an environment where “better never stops.”

Students benefit from a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum, underpinned by yoga, mindfulness, and an exceptional co-curricular programme. Our pastoral system is a defining strength: impeccable behaviour supports high-quality learning, while wellbeing is woven into daily life through practices that allow both staff and students to flourish.

With more than 660 students on roll and growing each year towards a full secondary and sixth form, Avanti Grange offers a rare opportunity to help shape one of the most exciting schools in the region.

What will you do?

  • Support the SENDCo with the SEND identification, assessment, monitoring, and the review process ensuring all records are updated regularly.
  • Complete administration of student referrals and support the SENDCo in preparing for a range of meetings with external agencies.
  • Collate data for SEND students’ identification, progress, target setting, monitoring and intervention purposes.
  • Ensure all information about students with SEND is recorded and filed correctly so that it is available to teaching staff to support teaching and learning.

What are we looking for?

  • An understanding of administrative roles and responsibilities
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Competent and effective user of IT, including Excel and Word
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people

Avanti Grange is a school that is committed to giving all children an engaging and enriching educational experience. We provide a richly diverse and connected school environment, representative of the world that our pupils will enter. Our pupils mature into individuals who are ambitious, open-minded and confident. Along with our academic pathway, we also take care to support individual character formation and spiritual insight through The Avanti Way.

Each pupil at our school is celebrated for their individual talents. For our pupils’, school is about exploring strengths and developing academic and personal skills that will ensure that every child is well prepared for the quickly changing world that awaits them. It is our promise that we will create an environment of challenge, enjoyment and collaboration, both within our school and throughout the Avanti Schools Trust and beyond.

Avanti Schools support each person’s life journey along three parallel paths: Educational excellence; Character formation; and Spiritual insight.

Avanti’s unique ethos places a key emphasis on each individual’s wellbeing and good mental health. Children with higher levels of emotional, behavioural, social, and school wellbeing, on average, have higher levels of academic achievement and are more engaged in the school community. All our schools share a dedicated approach to wellbeing, from providing yoga and mindfulness sessions, sports and exercise, charity work, and working with parents and carers as co-educators.
