Steeped in History, Wrenn school has been providing high quality education to the young people and families of Wellingborough for over 100 Years.

Our Upper School’s origins at London Road lie in Wellingborough County High School for Girls which was established in 1907. Our Lower School site at Doddington Road which was established in 1930, was once the Wellingborough Grammar School for boys. In 1975, under the then headmaster, Mr Harry Wrenn, the two schools merged to form Wrenn School and in 2025 we look forward to celebrating 50 years as Wrenn School.

Wrenn School is a split site school, the lower and upper school site, KS3 (Aged 11-14) are entirely based on our Doddington Road site with KS4 & 5 (14-19) predominantly based at London Road. The Educational environment is full of historical character and the school has retained many of its original features. The school has beautiful grounds, excellent Art, Music, Drama and Design Technology purpose-built facilities. The Wrenn Astro, playing fields, hard play areas and Gyms providing excellent facilities for the multitude of sports which are played across the school.

“Pupils benefit from a plethora of opportunities and clubs which extend beyond the curriculum’ Ofsted, December 2023

At Wrenn school ‘we set no limits and accept no excuses’ and we aim for excellence in all that we do. We invest heavily in the development of our pupils’ and find ways to nurture them both academically and personally. During their time at Wrenn our students thrive, we are proud of the outcomes that they achieve, and we believe that all students can make outstanding progress and experience individual success. Our Sixth form students, student leadership teams and student mentors play an active role within the school, providing a support to peers and the wider community.
