You’ll have previous experience of:

  • Working with SEND children and families
  • Working and engaging with SEND parents, carers or guardians, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
  • Working in an educational or outreach environment
  • Working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
  • Working with families from diverse communities
  • Working with social care and other agencies
  • Safeguarding and attendance procedures and policies

Some of the ways in which you will take an active role to support our students to achieve the best outcomes include:

  • Identifying and reducing barriers to engagement and learning
  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality
  • Signposting parents and carers to support and services
  • Taking an active role in parent workshops and training
  • Working in partnership with other agencies

As a SEND Family Support Worker, you will work in close partnership with staff and families across our two special schools.

JFK Special School and Connaught Special School:

  • Cater for children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
  • Have a strong values-driven approach to education, ensuring the schools are a fantastic place to work and learn.
  • Stimulating environments where children can be safe and enjoy learning with a dedicated team of staff. Staff are our most important resource and we invest heavily in CPD based on individual need.
