SEND Support Officer job summary
About This Role - SEND Support Officer
At Avenue Centre for Education, we are committed to ensuring that every young person can access high-quality education and thrive, regardless of their starting point or needs. Our values - Honesty, Aspiration, Respect, and Kindness - underpin all that we do, and we are looking for a dedicated SEND Support Officer to help us continue this important work.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our SENDCo to deliver outstanding provision across the school. Alongside working directly with pupils, families, and external professionals, you will also have a strong focus on supporting colleagues through training, guidance, and professional development. By helping staff to build their confidence and expertise in supporting pupils with SEND, you will ensure that inclusive practice is embedded across all areas of school life.
This is a non-teaching role but one that requires excellent knowledge of SEND processes, strong organisational skills, and the ability to build positive relationships. You will take on responsibilities such as:
-
Supporting the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with SEND.
-
Coordinating interventions and tracking progress against EHCP outcomes.
-
Managing SEND records, compliance, and statutory review processes.
-
Acting as a point of contact for staff and external agencies on SEND matters.
-
Line managing Teaching Assistants, supporting their development, and ensuring high-quality classroom support.
-
Organising, structuring, and facilitating training for staff, with the ability to teach, guide, and develop others so they can perform effectively.
-
Working closely with families to build strong partnerships and gather pupil/parent voice.
ACE can offer the successful candidate the support from staff, parents and members (governors) who are enthusiastic, caring and committed to working as a team to achieve the best journey for our students at ACE. You will have the opportunity to develop new skills and stay motivated through guidance and support of the Senior Leadership Team, who have great plans for ACE and who really value committed members of staff. You will be enhancing your career by enrolling on the ACE’s numerous training and CPD schemes that effectively progress the knowledge and skill set of our staff team. This is a fantastic opportunity if you are motivated to work in a school giving ‘a second chance’ to some of the most vulnerable young people in society.
This role is well-suited to someone with experience in SEND settings, confident in liaising with external professionals, skilled in delivering staff training both to teams and individuals, and deeply motivated by improving outcomes for vulnerable learners. The position is 35 hours per week (term time + INSET days), graded at L6 SCP 21-25 (FTE £32,115 - £35,235).
If you are passionate about inclusion, highly organised, and committed to making a lasting difference for pupils with SEND, we would love to hear from you.
