About the Role

What if your next teaching role gave you the opportunity to make a difference in ways you never imagined?

At Danecourt School, progress is personal. It might be a child finding their voice, developing independence, building a friendship or achieving something they once found impossible. These are the moments that make teaching here so rewarding.

We're looking for an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join our award-winning specialist school, supporting children with complex needs, including autism, communication needs and sensory processing differences.

Whether you're an experienced SEND teacher, a mainstream teacher curious about specialist education or an established practitioner looking for a fresh challenge, Danecourt offers the opportunity to grow your expertise and make a meaningful impact.

You'll teach small classes, supported by skilled Teaching Assistants, therapists and specialist colleagues who work together to help every child thrive.

In this role, you will:

  • Create engaging, personalised learning experiences that celebrate each child's strengths and progress

  • Lead and support your class team, working collaboratively with specialist colleagues

  • Adapt your teaching creatively to meet individual learning, communication and sensory needs

  • Build positive relationships with children and families

  • Contribute your ideas and expertise to our collaborative school community

At Danecourt, you'll have the opportunity to develop your specialist practice while helping shape exciting learning experiences for our pupils.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Has high expectations and believes every child can achieve

  • Brings creativity, flexibility and curiosity to teaching

  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

  • Enjoys collaborating and sharing expertise with others

  • Recognises and celebrates progress in all its forms

  • Is reflective, resilient and keen to develop professionally

You don't need to have spent your whole career in SEND to make a difference here. If you're a strong classroom practitioner with the right values and a willingness to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

For experienced teachers, there's also the opportunity to share your expertise, contribute to school development and continue growing your career.

What We Offer

At Danecourt, you'll join a specialist community where colleagues support one another, share expertise and celebrate the difference they make.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Small classes supported by skilled Teaching Assistants, therapists and specialist colleagues

  • Protected PPA time, including the opportunity to work from home one day every fortnight

  • High-quality SEND-focused CPD and opportunities to develop specialist expertise

  • Career development and leadership opportunities across Danecourt and Maritime Academy Trust

  • Opportunities to contribute to our Maritime Outreach Support Service, helping strengthen SEND practice across other schools

  • The opportunity to be part of an award-winning, growing specialist school, recognised at the Medway Parents and Carers Forum SEND Awards

  • Teachers' Pension Scheme and national terms and conditions

  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including enhanced maternity and paternity provision

  • Wellbeing support, including our Employee Assistance Programme, Mental Health First Aiders and Occupational Health support

  • Lifestyle and financial wellbeing benefits, including Cycle to Work, Blue Light Card, eye care vouchers and employee discounts
