What skills and experience we're looking for

  • QTS or equivalent qualifications

  • Knowledge of Early Years and KS1

  • Highly successful classroom practitioner

  • To possess proven skills and abilities to work with children but also those with social and emotional problems and special educational needs

  • Be committed to pastoral care, collaborative team work and flexible working.

  • Being warm, positive, reflective, adaptive, patient, confident, cooperative, organised, flexible and sensitive to families from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Woodfield Academy are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teacher to join our supportive and forward-thinking team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to teach and support pupils with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Woodfield Academy, ensuring they are able to access learning, develop independence and make strong progress both within specialist support and mainstream lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, inclusive teaching for pupils whose additional needs (including social communication, cognition and learning, and emotional regulation) may otherwise act as a barrier to successful engagement in school

  • Apply teaching approaches informed by experience of Early Years or KS1 practice to supportKS2 and KS3pupils whose developmental profile is significantly below their chronological age

  • Assess pupils’ baseline levels and implement targeted strategies to maximise academic, social and emotional progress

  • Support pupils’ successful inclusion into mainstream lessons through well-planned transition, scaffolding and collaboration with colleagues
