Are you an inspirational, patient, and highly resilient practitioner with a passion for driving excellence in specialised care and pupil achievement? We are seeking a dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team and work in close partnership with all staff, governors, and wider community to support our pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

As a Level 2 TA for pupils with severe learning difficulties, you will:

  • Deliver highly differentiated, functional learning activities and sensory experiences tailored to each child’s developmental stage.

  • Utilise and promote specialised communication methods (including Makaton, PECS, and AAC devices) to give every pupil a voice.

  • Attend to complex personal, hygiene, and intimate care needs, while strictly following moving and handling guidelines.

  • Work closely with external clinical professionals to deliver vital speech, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy routines.

  • Ensure absolute safety, line-of-sight supervision, and positive behavior co-regulation for pupils who may lack danger awareness.

  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary classroom team and maintain positive, supportive communication with families and carers.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced and compassionate practitioner, deeply committed to inclusion, pupil dignity, and well-being.

  • Skilled in remaining calm, resilient, and patient under pressure, especially when faced with distressed or physically challenging behaviours.

  • A strong communicator with the drive, energy, and flexibility to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of an SLD environment.

  • Eager to engage in continuous professional development, including specialised medical, safety, and de-escalation training.
