SEND Teaching Assistant job summary
The Alton is an inclusive inner London primary school situated next to Richmond Park. We are a one-form entry school with a resource base for children with Autism and associated learning difficulties.
We are seeking to appoint someone who can support children within the mainstream who have Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and support the delivery of their provision.
Your main priorities will be to support specific children or small groups of children under the guidance of the class teacher and the SENCO. You will support children to access their learning , working with them to ensure their educational and emotional needs are met and promoting positive behaviour in a nurturing environment. You will build positive relationships with the pupils, and their families as well as with other staff in the school. You will promote our inclusive culture and where appropriate support students to mix socially with students from the wider school community.
You will need:
- A great personality and good enthusiasm
- Experience supporting SEND children with a range of needs
- Experience in an education setting (primary age range preferable)
- Strong communication skills
- To be proactive, committed, resilient and reliable
- Willingness to provide personal self-care support to pupils where needed
- Be flexible, caring and patient
- Be able to work as part of a wider team to provide excellent support and care for our children
