SENDCO Assistant job summary
To assist the Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND in leading the provision for SEND within the school.
Have knowledge of high-quality interventions together with the tracking and evaluation of these.
To support the Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND in managing the implementation of an inclusive curriculum.
To overview and quality assure provision maps and record keeping. To have high expectations for pupils with SEND needs.
Be the first point of contact for the parents of students with SEND.
To support the provision of SEND, including maintaining an overview for the allocation of support time and the writing of individual student outcomes for students with SEN with Support.
To liaise with relevant outside agencies to ensure that individual pupil SEND needs are met effectively and that the statutory provisions of EHCP students are met.
Ensuring that staff are kept informed of pupil’s SEND needs and advise on areas to develop and support.
Working with the Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND and other staff to ensure that Pupil Profiles are used to set subject- specific targets and match work well to pupils’ needs.
To work with the Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND to promote an inclusive curriculum.
To liaise with and inform parents/carers about the specifics of the SEN provision for their child under the direction of the Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND .
To monitor the progress of students with SEN and advise them Assistant Principal for Inclusion and SEND .
Carry out a range of additional duties that may arise from time-to-time in accordance with the nature of the role and level of responsibility.
