What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you ready to lead an outstanding SEND department and make a real difference in a thriving school community? Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated SENDCo to join our vibrant team.
We are a four-form entry school at the heart of an ethnically and religiously diverse community and we are incredibly proud of what our pupils achieve during their time with us as shown in our excellent SATs results. In our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2023), we were graded Good, with inspectors noting: 'Pupils are safe and happy at this friendly, welcoming school. Their conduct is exemplary in lessons and around school.'
As a highly inclusive church school, spirituality underpins everything we do – our values, our culture, and our commitment to nurturing every child and staff member to reach their full potential. We are a vibrant and happy community where relationships matter and where every member of our school family is valued and supported to be their very best.
The Headteacher and Governors are seeking to employ an inspiring SENDCo who will lead our high-performing SEND department, working with motivated teachers, support staff, and pupils, as well as our successful Inclusion Base, to ensure every child reaches their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact in a school where SEND provision is at the heart of what we do. You will need evident SEND experience or a genuine desire to further develop this area of your teaching role, along with the passion and drive to help every child succeed.
What we're looking for:
- Someone who enjoys a challenge and likes to work as part of a team
- Someone with evident SEND experience or a desire to further develop this area of their teaching role
- Someone who is able to develop strong working relationships with outside agencies and complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner
- Someone with patience and a sense of humour!
What the school offers its staff
What we can offer you:
- A Church school at the heart of our diverse community – where spirituality and values shape everything we do
- Motivated and enthusiastic children who genuinely love coming to school and are eager to learn
- Supportive parents who work in partnership with us to help every child thrive
- An attractive, stimulating and well-resourced environment where teaching and learning flourish
- Effective SEND practices and procedures already in place, ready for you to build upon
- Motivated teachers and ETAs who want to support our pupils and make a real difference
- A strong commitment to professional development opportunities for all staff members – because when our team grows, our children flourish
