What skills and experience we're looking for
We want to appoint an inspirational, and dedicated SENDCo to lead our SEND provision, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to thrive.
Saddleworth School has huge potential. In September 2026, Mr Sheldon Logue will take on the role of headteacher. We are looking for a leader and team player with vision and drive who will play a leading role in our journey to excellence.
You will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of SEND across the school, leading a team of LSAs, overseeing the implementation of the SEND policy, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality graduated approach to help every pupil reach their full potential. This role relies heavily on being able to work collaboratively with staff, families, and agencies to secure the best outcomes for students with SEND.
What we are looking for:
- Currently hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards it within 1 year
- Relevant experience in team leadership or management, e.g. head of department, 2 i/c, team leader, leadership of the development of curriculum / T & L / assessment etc, which has had an impact on both pupils and teachers
- An exceptional teacher in your own right with a proven track record of impact on progress for the pupils you teach
- Understanding of and ability to implement all SEND-related statutory responsibilities to ensure the school’s compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation
- Strategic, future-orientated, able to balance long and short-term perspectives
- Intellectually and organisationally agile and well-organised; open to new directions, continuously pro-active and thinking ahead, whilst planning and structuring what needs to be done to translate aspiration into reality
Join us in our mission of ambition, excellence and community, to achieve the best for everyone, and the best from everyone.
