What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors at Broomhall Nursery School are seeking to appoint an experienced early years teacher to be our SENDCo due to the retirement of the current post holder.

Broomhall is a small and friendly setting that serves a diverse and vibrant community, catering for three and four year old children. We have close links with Broomhall Under 3s, housed in the same building and Grace Owen Nursery School as well as colleagues form a wide range of services.

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • passionate about early years

  • able to respond swiftly and sensitively to a range of needs and behaviours
  • able to lead and co-ordinate our work with children with SEND including

o building close professional relationships with children and families from their initial contact and transition into nursery, all the way to their move into statutory education, ensuring they feel included, thrive and progress

o early identification of potential needs and being able to organise a swift and reflective daily support package for each child with the staff team

o working directly with individuals and small groups of children regularly

o modelling, training and supporting staff in their day to day work

o introducing new initiatives to the team through keeping up to date with local and national updates and opportunities

o quickly getting to know/ maintain links with a wide range of services

Essential Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Degree
  • National Award for SEN Co-ordination or other relevant SEND qualification

Experience

  • Successful teaching experience in early years, including successful support of children with a range of SEND and those eligible for pupil premium funding.
  • Leading workshops and meetings for families and staff.
  • Experience of monitoring and supporting a small team to meet the needs of pupils with SEND
  • Experience of writing different types of support plans
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and building effective working relationships.
