As part of this leadership role the Senior Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in:

  • Communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the headteacher’s strategic leadership
  • The day-to-day management of the school
  • Formulating the aims and objectives of the school
  • Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
  • Monitoring progress towards meeting the school’s aims and objectives
  • Motivate staff and students to have a shared culture and positive climate.
  • Promote creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve excellence.
  • Attend Trust Board meetings as needed to advise, report, support committees.

Specific areas of responsibility

The Senior Assistant Head;

  • will be the overall safeguarding lead for the school (DSL) and will deputise for the Headteacher in the absence of the Headteacher and the Deputy Headteacher.
  • will also have the substantive duties of an Assistant Headteacher.

The Assistant Headteacher will also have a reduced teaching commitment, complying with the Teachers’ Standards and modelling best practice for others.
