Senior Caretaker
We are looking for a dependable, skilled and proactive Senior Caretaker to join the team at Gaywood Primary School. This is a key role, helping us to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment that supports the learning and wellbeing of our children.
As our Senior Caretaker, you will take pride in the presentation and upkeep of our school site. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring everything runs smoothly on a daily basis.
Start Date: To be Arranged
Salary: Scale D, Point 5 – 6 £13.26 - £13.47/hour
(£25,583 - £25,989 a year FTE based on a 37 hour week)
Please note that the salary will be pro rata
Hours: 25-30 hours/week, 42weeks/year (term time plus 4 weeks)

About the Role
To ensure that the school premises and contents are properly maintained, secured and ready for use, in accordance with all Health and Safety Regulations and the practices and procedures of the school. To help keep the school clean and tidy.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience in caretaking, site management or maintenance
- Understands health & safety procedures and is committed to compliance
- Is organised, dependable and able to work on their own initiative
- Communicates well and works effectively with others
- Is able to do two split shifts each week (Term time only)
- Is flexible and willing to meet the day-to-day needs of a busy primary school

Gaywood Primary School is a two-form entry school that caters for children from the age of four to eleven years of age. At present, there are 417 children on roll.
We have fantastic facilities including a large field, playgrounds, library, music rooms and classrooms with working walls and corridors with wall art that supports children's learning. Our EYFS outdoor area is stunning and vibrant supporting our youngest children in developing the whole child and our library is stocked with the latest books to tempt and inspire our young children to love reading.
Our aim is to provide a warm, friendly, atmosphere in a safe, caring environment where children will be happy and successful.
To achieve this, it is important that the school and homework together in partnership. This partnership is built through a regular dialogue between parents, child and school.
