Senior Catering Manager job summary
EAT WELL IN SCHOOLS
SCHOOL OWNED, COMMUNITY FED
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for showing an interest in the role of Senior Catering Manager.
'Eat Well in Schools' started in 2014 when a group of four schools decided to work in partnership to improve the lunchtime for their children. Eight years on, the vision still remains the same:
- To use fresh products where possible;
- To use local suppliers;
- To ensure a high standard of tasty, appealing meals is always offered to our children.
- To ensure our kitchen teams are well managed, trained and have job satisfaction.
The Senior Catering Manager is based at Beech Hill Primary School, but works across all four partnership schools:
- Beech Hill Primary School, Luton
- Downside Primary School, Luton
- Ferrars Junior School, Luton
- Waulud Primary School, Luton
A job description is included in this pack, but in essence the role involves:
- Designing the school menus, within the necessary budgetary constraints and adhering to the School Food Standards;
- Working with the four catering teams to ensure the highest standards are upheld in the kitchen and that the menus are replicated accurately;
- Monitoring and evaluating the food produced;
- Managing and training the individual catering teams;
- Dealing with our food suppliers;
In addition, our Senior Catering Manager enhances the school curriculum for the children by running a variety of food related workshops, for example:
- Making bread rolls with the children when they study the Great Fire of London
- Rationing workshops when they study WWII
- Healthy eating workshops
The role is for 37 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. However, we are open to discussions regarding hours and number of weeks worked per year.
