Senior Finance Officer job summary

About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Finance Officer to join our central team at Create Partnership Trust.

Under the guidance of the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), you lead on the smooth running of the finance function supporting the wider environment.

This is an exciting time to join the central finance team as the trust is looking to update and improve the approach to the financial management

The role is offered on a part-time and term-time + 2 weeks basis.

Key Responsibilities:

To be a member of the Create Central Finance Team, ensuring that the Trust’s financial processes and procedures are being carried out at all Create schools, leading on the review and improvement

To be a member of Create Central team, with responsibility for the preparation of the financial reporting for the CFO to review before being reported to the Exec team, Head Teachers, Trust Board

To be responsible for all aspects of finance at the schools and developing the in-school teams to provide a high-level service to their Headteachers

To ensure accurate records and financial information are kept enabling the CFO to appropriately model, strategically plan, forecast, analysis and report

To consider and lead on any income generation opportunities, supporting the schools where required

To contribute to the achievement of the educational vision for Create Partnership Trust

To work with schools, to develop, implement and embed standardised processes and procedures

To develop relationships with key financial partners, including local authorities and external finance consultants

To scan the financial and education horizon, looking outwards to support financial information and planning, keeping up-to-date with the latest guidance and preparing the forecasts for expected changes.

You will have the following skills/ experience.

Extensive experience working in a finance team, ideally in a central finance function where there is devolved responsibility for finance processes and procedures

Experience and/or knowledge of schools or education finance & administration would be desirable, but not essential

Knowledge and experience of financial management systems and processes

Experience of implementing financial policies and procedures

Experience of assisting with budgeting and reporting processes in an organisation

Experience of preparing financial reports, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations

Experience of working with a range of internal and external partners including non-finance personnel

Ability to work independently using initiative
