Who we are looking for
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- A successful track record of working in HR in a school or education setting.
- GCSE English and Maths grade 4 (grade C) or equivalent qualifications/grades and an excellent standard of English and numeracy.
- CIPD Level 3 qualification (or above), or equivalent relevant HR experience
- Safer recruitment certification (or ability to achieve this upon appointment)
- Mental health first aid qualification (or ability to achieve this during probation period)
- Excellent ICT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with empathy and approachability.
- Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and able to plan, organise and prioritise to meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy; committed to maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.

About the Post
We are looking to appoint a Senior HR & Welfare Officer to join us in an exciting and progressive journey with a vision to transform education across our community. Twynham School and The Grange School (known collectively as Twynham TGS) operate a federated staffing structure, focused on delivering a world class educational experiences to students across both of our schools. This is a rare opportunity to join our organisation working alongside talented and passionate colleagues.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
- Be available as a first point of contact for staff and line managers on a wide variety of people-related topics
- Offer day-to-day support, guidance and advice to staff and line managers who are experiencing issues which are impacting upon their work-life. Signposting them to relevant support/services, and delivering mental health first aid for staff if needed.
- Lead and manage the schools’ informal staff attendance management and staff risk assessment processes, including making referrals to Occupational Health.
- Supported by our HR Administrator, be responsible for the delivery of all the schools’ general operational HR requirements, including recruitment, Single Central Record, contract changes, probation periods and HR recordkeeping.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.
